Frequently Asked Questions

Jewellery & Materials

What materials do you use?
Nico & Bear jewellery is crafted in sterling silver, brass and natural stones. Each piece is made in small batches in our studio outside Gothenburg, Sweden, with a focus on texture, form and natural variation.

Is your jewellery handmade?
Yes — each piece is designed, constructed and finished by hand in our studio in Sweden. All jewellery is made by Nic Johansson, the designer and maker behind Nico & Bear.

Are your stones natural?
We use natural stones such as dendritic agate, jasper and chrysocolla. Each stone carries its own unique colours and patterns.

Will my piece look exactly like the photos?
Because each piece is handmade — and many include natural stones — there may be slight variations. These differences are part of what makes each piece individual and unique.

Why do some stones look like landscapes?
Certain stones, such as dendritic agate, contain natural mineral inclusions that form branching patterns. These can resemble trees, moss or landscapes, which is part of what inspires many of the designs.

Orders & Shipping

How long will my order take?
Most pieces are made to order. Please allow up to 14 days for production, in addition to shipping time. You will receive confirmation once your piece has been dispatched.

Do you ship internationally?
Yes — we ship internationally. Shipping times and costs will vary depending on your location.

Will I need to pay customs or import fees?
International orders may be subject to customs duties or import taxes depending on your country. These charges are the responsibility of the customer and we are unable to advise on such charges, which are determined by the country in which you live.

Can I return or exchange an item?
If you are not completely satisfied with your purchase, please get in touch within 7 days of receiving your order. We will do our best to help.

Care & Longevity

How should I care for my jewellery?
To keep your jewellery looking its best, store it in a dry place and avoid contact with water, perfumes and chemicals. A soft polishing cloth can be used to gently restore shine.

Will silver tarnish?
Sterling silver can naturally tarnish over time, particularly when exposed to air and moisture. This is normal and can easily be cleaned with a polishing cloth.

Can I wear my jewellery every day?
Many pieces are suitable for everyday wear, but we recommend removing jewellery during activities such as swimming, exercising or heavy manual work to help preserve its finish.

One-of-a-Kind Pieces

Why are some pieces one of a kind?
Some designs feature natural stones whose patterns cannot be replicated. These pieces are created to highlight the individuality of the material, making each one completely unique.

Can you recreate a sold piece?
While exact replicas are not possible when natural stones are involved, we may be able to create a similar piece using a different stone. Feel free to get in touch to discuss this.

Do you take custom commissions?
The studio occasionally accepts commissions for bespoke pieces. If you have something in mind, please reach out and we can explore the possibilities.
